How a Danzig Show Led to an Eagle Rock House

The call started like this: "My bandmate says you're a great real estate agent."

They were already working with another agent and weren't loving it. Their bandmate, my client on Avenue 46, had mentioned that I'd been at the Danzig Halloween show the night before. "I just feel like you're the kind of person I want to work with." I've loved that sentence ever since.

I'm Breanne Wahl, a Los Angeles real estate agent with ACME | SERHANT. I represented that buyer on 5213 Townsend Avenue, a 1925 home in Eagle Rock with three bedrooms, two baths and 1,580 square feet.

It wasn't a straight line

Before Townsend, my client was in escrow on another house, and we canceled. That happens more than people think. Walking away from the wrong house is part of finding the right one.

Standing out with multiple offers

Townsend was listed at $699,000 and drew multiple offers. We made our offer strong. With my client's permission, I also wrote to the sellers so they knew who was behind it: someone committed and ready to make this house their home. We won at $755,000 in September 2012.

A note on buyer letters: they need real care. Fair housing laws exist so sellers choose offers on terms, not on who a buyer is. If a letter goes in, it should stick to the offer and the buyer's plans for the house.

Years later

That client called me again, this time to sell. That is the next story.
